Building a Stronger Pole Community with X-POLE

Building a Stronger Pole Community with X-POLE

At X-POLE, we believe that a supportive community is essential for the growth and success of pole dancing as a sport, art form, and fitness activity.

The Power of Community

Pole dancing is more than just a physical activity; it's a way of connecting with others who share your passion.

Community can mean different things to different people. For some, it’s about the friendships they form in the studio. For others, it’s the sense of belonging and inclusion they feel when they attend an event or join an online group.

Whether you're a teacher, a professional, a national champion, or a newcomer, being part of a community provides support, motivation, and inspiration. Our local Aussie pole community has grown to be diverse, inclusive, and welcoming, making it a safe space for everyone to express themselves and grow.

Supporting Each Other

One of the key elements of a strong community is mutual support.

At X-POLE, we encourage polers to lift each other up, share their experiences, and celebrate each other's successes.

Whether cheering your pole buddy on during a show-night, offering tips and advice in the pole FB groups or via TikTok, or simply being there to listen to a friend after class about how their week has been -  every act of support strengthens our community.

The biggest example of this, this year - Andrea Ryff broke her foot, and Toby J (the Pole Dr) and his partner Suzie Q, not only supported Andrea as friends, they helped her realise her vision of still performing (against the odds) at Pole Icon 2024. It was a truly iconic show and very "Andrea", whose personal pole brand has always advocated working hard to achieve BIG dreams.

Collaboration and Growth

Collaboration is at the heart of a thriving pole community.

By working together, we have achieved more in this industry than many other countries.

X-POLE Australia partners with studios, instructors, and event organizers to create opportunities for polers to learn, perform, and compete.

These collective collaborations, have only really been apparent in the last decade - however they have helped to push the boundaries of what is possible in pole; inspiring both innovation and creativity.

From Sensual Dance to Mainstream Fitness

From the early days, X-POLE has worked to create opportunities for showcasing pole in mainstream theatres, events, and fitness shows.

Pole dancing has transitioned from its sensual dance roots to a respected fitness activity, thanks to pioneering efforts that brought it into the mainstream.

We’ve seen pole dance featured in fitness expos and on mainstream TV, with major examples like Kristy Sellars, and Joanna Littlewood-Johnson, who have wowed audiences with her incredible journey and successes on TV.

Kristy Sellars

Kristy Sellars is a shining example of how far pole dancing has come.

Starting her journey in country Victoria, she has taken the pole world by storm, winning national and international titles. Her start-up business Physipole is now the largest pole franchise in the world. She owns a recycled Pole-wear brand EnviroCo, and her own grip product (Enviro-Grip).

Kristy's performances on mainstream TV shows, including Australia’s Got Talent, America's Got Talent, France, Italy, Türkiye and a residency at a US theme park - these have all brought pole dancing into the lives of millions (some in person & some on TV or social media), showcasing the athleticism, artistry, and empowerment of pole.

Kristy’s success has inspired countless others to take up pole dancing and has elevated the perception of pole in the mainstream community.

Networking and Education

In the early days of the industry, networking at pole events was crucial for upskilling studio owners and instructors across the country.

We hosted events like Pole Reflections a decade ago, where we flew in and paid for the best polers in the world to visit studios large and small, in every state, running workshops at no cost to the studio owners.

This initiative helped spread knowledge, skills, and inspiration throughout the community, fostering growth and innovation.

This was the first and only time this had been done. Every artist had an Entertainment visa (coordinated and paid for by us), meaning they could be paid for their workshops legally. Supporting rights of polers and artists is one of our core values, and we are proud to have set the standard for touring international pole artists here in Australia. Respecting their craft and talent, promotes the Australian pole industry as a professional, credible and a worthy place for world-leading pole artists to visit.

Supporting Competitions and Ambassadors

X-POLE has always been committed to supporting national competitions and our ambassadors at international competitions.

By promoting Australian talent to a global audience, we help our polers gain the recognition they deserve. Our support extends beyond just sponsoring events; we create opportunities for polers to network, learn, and grow through these platforms.

Fostering Inclusivity

Inclusivity is a core value at X-POLE.

We believe that everyone, regardless of their background, age, gender, or skill level, should feel welcome and valued in the pole community.

By promoting diversity and inclusivity, we can create a richer, more dynamic community where everyone has their opportunity to shine. This means offering accessible products nationwide (with support), supporting diverse events of all pole genres in all states, and fostering an environment where all voices are heard and celebrated.

The Role of the X-POLE Community

At X-POLE, we've been committed to supporting this evolution.

We provide high-quality equipment that caters to all styles, ensuring that every pole dancer can practice safely and confidently.

Our mission is to empower confidence, foster individual creative expression, and support commercial outcomes with social impact. We want people to feel comfortable moving and developing a style that is their own. That is where the art lies.

Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, remember that you are part of a vibrant and inclusive community that values every step of your pole journey.
