Summer is finally here! Who needs a better reason to get out of the house or the studio and take your pole training session outside?
However if you plan to take advantage of the long, warm summer days, here are our Top 5 tips for having fun under the sun safely, getting in some pole practice and taking care of your gear.
#1 - Find a shady spot!
Let’s be honest, sunscreen and pole dancing aren’t the best of friends. Sunscreen could have you slipping off the pole and the metal floor plates of your X-STAGE can get quite hot in direct sunlight, so choose a time of day either early morning or later in the afternoon where the sun isn’t at its strongest and find a nice shady spot under a tree or high awning to set up your gear.
#2 - Set up for Success
Our X-STAGE is extremely sturdy, and is also micro-articulating, which allows it to better adapt to uneven surfaces, however to make sure your summer session is as safe as possible, we recommend you set up your X-STAGE base on the flattest ground possible. When finding a space to set up your X-STAGE, avoid setting up on sand, soft loose ground or gravel, as these things can easily get into the crevasses of your pole and reduce its longevity and performance. If you get sand or water or dirt on your stage base, you will need to clean it really well to avoid rust; same as you would a bike. We recommend grass, flat earth or concrete as the safest and most stable options.
#3 - Safety first!
Once your stage is set up and your pole insert installed, don’t forget to do a safety check to ensure everything is inserted and locked in correctly and use the stability mechanisms on the base frame for the perfect pole spin!
#4 - Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!
Pole dancing is sweaty work! You want to make sure you have plenty of water with you, especially if there is no public access to drinking water. Staying hydrated during your training or practice session is crucial not just for your wellbeing but your focus and concentration. Don’t forget to take mini breaks during your session and listen to your body and stop if you are feeling any signs of overheating.
#5 - Keep it clean!
Whenever you take your poling practice outdoors - ALWAYS travel with a spray bottle of non-diluted methylated spirits and a clean microfiber cloth. When it’s time to pack down your pole, make sure you thoroughly clean ALL the parts of your pole and stage before packing them back into their cases, to keep them safe and in good condition till next time. If you have a lot of dust or dry dirt on your base consider using a leaf blower, or vacuum first before cleaning. Also to get the most out of your equipment, make sure your X-STAGE and pole accessories are stored indoors and out of the elements when not in use.
